Josh Matalon moved to the island with his wife in December 2020, one month after first visiting in October, falling in love with the kind people and amazing climate. They moved here with their morkie dog – Phoebe -, after living in Chicago for 10 years. They love to take beach walks, golf, play pickleball, cook and enjoy great food! His background was in financial services and technology. While living here, he saw an opportunity to leave that career, invest locally on the west side of the island, and to build a premium tourism offering. Why can’t people have luxury offerings while enjoying some of the best beaches in the world?
He left his previous company and started his outreach to local providers and building the team to both develop and manage luxury properties near his home in Isabela, Puerto Rico. His goal is to utilize local contractors and employees to deliver an exceptional experience to both local and international travelers. The company launched in mid-2022 and launched one property by the end of the year. The company expects to launch one more property by the end of 2023, and has partnerships to manage properties with other owners with a similar mission. They expect to launch at least one property each year thereafter.
He is focusing on purpose built spaces for luxury rental properties capable of housing larger groups, such as multigenerational families, and spaces dedicated to destination weddings. He is excited to partner with local small businesses in providing excellent service and amazing accommodations for anyone looking to experience West Puerto Rico.
Diana Ulichny is the Property Manager for Puerto Rico Luxury based in Isabela, Puerto Rico. She was born in New York City and moved to Puerto Rico when she was 13 years old. After spending the beginning of her adult life on the island, she moved to the mainland – primarily in the Orlando area. It was always her dream to move back to the beautiful island of Puerto Rico and now, with adult children, she was given just that opportunity. In 2021, her husband and her goldendoodle- Duchess packed their bags and now call Puerto Rico home again.
Diana loves to spend time collecting sea glass off the coastline and creating beautiful art pieces. She recently began to experiment with textured art using a compound mixture. Her pieces are minimalist and beautiful. Since the west coast of the island has so many breathtaking beaches you can find her snorkeling, swimming, or jet skiing.
Diana is passionate about the environment and regularly participates in beach clean ups. In the summer of 2022, with her 10-year-old grandson, they removed over 75 lbs. of trash from inside the beautiful waters of Jobos Beach, Crash Boat and Dorado Beach.
Diana is an accomplished manager with over 20 years of professional experience in hospitality and customer service management. Additionally, she spent 7 years as a Sr. Recruiter hiring top talent for many fortune 100 companies. With Puerto Rico Luxury, her focus is to exceed customer service expectations, deliver financial results to owners, and streamline processes, while building strong local business relationships.
She recently renovated, designed and launched Casa Aguada, a 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom home with a huge pool. She is now working on the next luxury vacation home project in Quebradillas, a ground-up development project build-to-suit for tourism. One of the things she likes most about working at Puerto Rico Luxury is that its principals are built on strong customer service, communication and full transparency with clients, stakeholders, and its employees.
